The Josie Hotel, Autograph Collection

We stayed here three nights on a whim as they have great rates in the off season (I assume most people come to ski). It's a little shocking to find such a high end property in such a rural area but it's truly luxurious and we had a great stay. We're Platinum elite and had hoped for a room upgrade, there was a little confusion about that but we really liked the room we had on our first night. It was at the front of the hotel not facing the mountain but had a huge balcony with really nice outdoor seating. There was a King size bed and a very cool all glass surrounded bathroom with blinds you could close for privacy. The bathroom was definitely the highlight of the room with a large soaker tub, separate shower and dual sinks. The room also had a Nespresso with a good supply of pods and we were pleasantly surprised by a small gift of macaroons as an elite thank you gift. Unfortunately there is construction happening at the front of the hotel, it was quiet enough with the windows closed but we wanted to enjoy outside time so we requested and received an upgrade to a Red Mountain suite for our last two nights. This suite was also very nice, the slope side of the hotel has beautiful views and it was so much quieter. Only issue was the balcony was much smaller and had no seating. The bathroom was equally cool with that same nice soaker tub and a separate room for the toilet. Breakfast is free for platinum and above members and was delicious. The menu was limited but what they had they did well: pancakes with maple syrup and whipped cream, eggs Benedict and a unusual "traditional breakfast" served with baked beans were all very tasty. We ate dinner at the restaurant one night and wished we'd eaten there more frequently, the food was top notch and reasonable considering the quality. There's no pool but they have two small outdoor saunas you can book in advance for private use. The town of Rossland is adorable and only a five minute drive away.

Traveling at this time of year tends to bring out the best in people at hotel properties as the summer crush is over and it’s before the busy fall and winter season gets underway, especially at ski resorts. We loved our first and quick 2 night stay at The Josie. My Lifetime Titanium Elite status was recognized and we thoroughly enjoyed the food at “Velvet”, especially the breakfasts. Thanks again to Ms. Taks for her assistance during our stay, we look forward to returning again sometime in the future!

Best calamari you will ever eat here. Drinks and service were so professional and friendly. Cant express how much good this fine dining restaurant is. Even better when you compare it to other "fine dining" spots in Rossland *cough cough* Gabriella's *cough cough*. I went in the summer but can only imagine the vista when the hill is covered in snow.

Nice hotel but missing some things. On Saturday we were gone the majority of the day and expected to come back and have had the room serviced by 5p.m.. It had not been cleaned which was annoying. I called front desk and asked for clean towels, coffee and mugs at least and they said they would send them right up. An hour and a half later someone knocked on the door and asked if we needed those things and I said yes and he left. Another hour and a half later a sweet employee dropped off some things and I asked her for a couple other items. If we are supposed to ask for service, that should be stated upon check in or there should be a notification in the room. Front desk staff was nice and great to have bikes to borrow. My other annoyance was that we booked through AAA. The price was to have included all taxes and fees. I was charged additional taxes and fees by the hotel after we left. AAA said it was up to the hotel to have notified them if their policy had changed and that they were just a platform. Just a good thing to know for future travelers. We would definitely stay there. Beautiful hotel. Not sure where everyone is going to park during busier times of the year as there isn't much parking but still recommend the hotel.

The hotel is in a Ski Village and during the off season there is a fair amount of construction. Our room had a great mountain view and was only a 6 minute drive from downtown Rossland. Has a good fitness room in the building. I would stay at this location again during off season when rates are cheaper. Good Customer Service.

Right on the snow at Red Mountain The Josie it's a great spot for a drink, nibbles, lunch or dinner. Lovely friendly staff with great service. We'd go after a morning ski for a drink & lunch. Really nice rooms, with valet service for your skis & boots.

Hotel is lovely and the location is the best. I really want to say excellent, but we were grumpy from lack of sleep. The heating system kept our room at a minimum of 21.5 the whole time. It was too hot for comfortable sleeping. Our friends agreed that their room was also too hot. We requested help and were told to open the window and turn on the bathroom fan. Nothing helped, and I dislike wasting energy. Also no secure wifi. All staff were absolutely great and the hotel would be wonderful if the temperature controls worked.

My husband and I had the most wonderful time! All the staff were super friendly and shout outs to Anne-Marie and Tim for going above and beyond. The beds were super comfortable, and we had many great meals at Velvet. The only down fall is there is no pool/hottub, but the slope side saunas were lovely!

Another Nice stay …. Nice modern rooms and very attentive staff. I hope to see some sort of pool and/hot tubs in the future considering this is hotel is slope side and considered a luxury hotel. I did not use the restaurant on this visit as hours were limited due to it being off season.
